Maybe this feels familiar:

You feel responsible for holding relationships together. You learned to be low-maintenance to be loved. You're seen for what you give, not for who you are. You've felt punished for loving or caring too much. And somewhere along the way, you forgot about you.

So, you went to therapy.

You did the work to understand and name your attachment style, trace wounds back to childhood, and explain exactly why you do what you do in relationships. But, you still feel stuck in patterns that leave you feeling hopeless and afraid of being hurt again. It’s not that therapy didn't work. But, understanding something and healing from it are not the same thing.

You've done the thinking and now you're ready to experience the version of you that has deep connections without losing yourself in them. Relationships can feel messy at times. You're still learning and that’s okay!

This is where I come in.

My work is:

  • Relational - We look at your patterns or how you show up in your romantic, family, and platonic relationships in real time.

  • Somatic - We include your body, not just your thoughts. Healing doesn't happen only in your mind. It happens in your body, your breath, and your felt sense of safety, trust, and belonging.

  • Experiential -  You won't just talk. You'll practice new ways of relating, so that change becomes something you feel and not just something you understand. You will practice in sessions with me, in your current relationships in between sessions, or in group therapy. When we are to be witnessed while sharing our truth and learning about ourselves through supportive relationships, community becomes medicine.

I use Somatic Experiencing (SE), Internal Family Systems (IFS), sound therapy, and attachment-based frameworks to support this work. For those who are ready to go deeper in a concentrated way, I also offer therapy intensives and sound healing sessions designed to help you safely return to your body.

My work is for people who:

  • are redefining what love, family, and connection look like on their own terms

More from Melony: Surrender to Thrive

content warning: this post briefly mentions birth trauma

Initially, I was motivated to become a therapist out of my curiosity about human behavior, specifically within my culture. Growing up, I always heard phrases that painted therapy as only for the "weak, unhinged, white people, and financially privileged." Therefore, I was inspired to help shift the perception of therapy and who it is for. I wanted to make therapy "cool,” meaning culturally infused, accessible, creative, and inviting. As I continued my journey to becoming a therapist, I experienced birth trauma while in grad school, which shifted my therapeutic approach and motivation.

In 2018, I was five months pregnant when I went into pre-term labor and lost my son. As you can imagine, this was a difficult time for me emotionally because it was my first pregnancy and child. I couldn't wrap my head around what I had experienced, and it was difficult for me to avoid, dismiss, or hide from my pain as I have with past traumas. The emotional pain was overwhelming. I had to learn to surrender to what I was feeling and it changed how I choose to navigate my emotions and the dualities of life for the better.

Now, my motivation as a therapist is to create a soft and supportive space for my clients to explore their whole selves, and transform their relationships with their emotions so they can thrive in life and love.
